About
Sensei Milevsky is a 7th Dan in the Karate-Do Instructor's Council of Chicago, 6th Dan with the Japan Karate Association/International Traditional Karate Federation and is a certified examiner for JKA Indiana. As Director and Chief Instructor of the Japan Karate Association Indiana, Milevsky is best known for his high energy and innovative instruction, which brings out the best in student athletes. He is considered one of the top teachers of kata in the region. To this day, he still uncompromisingly trains and teaches at JKA Indiana.
Training
Sensei Milevsky has attended the AAKF/ITKF Instructors School at the University of California in San Diego. He has also trained under the late Hidetaka Nishiyama, one of the world’s most renowned instructors and President of the AAKF and Chairman of the ITKF. Milevsky has also had the opportunity to receive instruction from the following high ranking instructors:

Sensei Milevsky began training in the Goju-Ryu style of karate in 1965 and later received formalized training with the Japan Karate Association of Chicago under the direction of Shojiro Sugiyama in 1967. He later became a member of Mr. Sugiyama’s traveling kumite team in the early 1970’s and participated in several AAKF National tournaments. Milevsky was a member of the Great Lakes Demonstration Team from 1971 to 1996.

Sensei Milevsky has been teaching karate in the region since 1967. He has taught in the following school systems:

He has given presentations for the:
Northwestern University School of Law and the Mediation Counsel of Illinois.
Served as the most senior instructor within the Great Lakes Region under Shojiro Sugiyama, and in 1997 was also the first to receive a 7th Dan instructor’s certificate within the same region in the Karate-Do Instructor’s Council of Chicago.
Milevsky acted as the Chief Referee for Northwestern University.

He was also named an Honorary Alumni of the Northwestern University Karate Club.
Additionally, he taught in Norden, Germany and the Netherlands.
Milevsky served as Regional Director of the AAKF Great Lakes Region from 2004 to 2011. He organized and formed the AAKF Great Lakes Region, L.L.C. in 2004 and served as President until December 2011.
Personal Info
Anthony Milevsky was born in 1942 in Gary, Indiana He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is retired from U.S. Steel Gary Works after 30 years of service.
Sensei Milevsky is currently married to his wife Donna Marie. He has a daughter Lori, married to Paul, son Anthony, married to Nikki, son Aaron and a stepdaughter Cassie. Milevsky and his wife together have grandchildren Alina, Max, Luke and Brooklyn.
Sensei Milevsky crossed trained in weight training, cycling and running in order to enhance fitness. Training runs included trails within the Indiana Dunes State Park. He became a competitive runner in 1986, completing numerous 5K and 10K races.
Milevsky was a marathon runner, participating and completing as a finisher in the following marathons:

Chicago Marathons 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1991
California International Marathon 1991
